Travel Destinations for 2016 – USA Edition

I’m a HUGE traveler. Nothing makes me happier than when I get to explore a new place or culture. I’m always up for a new adventure. While there are many countries I want to visit (trust me, the list gets longer every day), it can be a little tricky to jet off just for a weekend.  Because of this, I’ve been making a list of places to explore in the good ol’ U.S. of A, which can easily be done over a long weekend in 2016.

If you have any other suggestions, let me know. What’s on your bucket list for the upcoming year?

  • Road Trip to Big Sur, California – I mean, who doesn’t want to take road trip up the PCH?  Definitely one of the most photogenic places on the west coast.
  • New Orleans, Louisiana – for the past few years New Orleans has been on my to-do list and yet, for some reason, it kept passing me by. But not this year. This year is the year it all changes. I’m determined.  While most people want to party during Mardi Gras, I’ve had it on good authority (from several locals) that the Jazz Festival is just as good… If not better. There’s still a vibrant party scene without all the mess and hassle. Definitely more up my alley. Also, I can never say no to a good beignet.
  • Taos, New Mexico – I’m a total history nerd so this is right up my alley. It has such a rich cultural history ranging from the Pueblo people up to the 20th century when several artists and literary geniuses, like D.H Lawrence, lived there.
  • Charleston, South Carolina – what can I say, I love how charming and quaint it is.  From the photos, I can understand why one of my close friends, who grew up there, has been trying to get me to visit. There’s so much to do and see here whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or a major shopaholic.  Thankfully I’m all three of those things.
